Best and Worst Dressed of the Met Gala!

New York City was packed with celebrities last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for fashion’s biggest night – the Met Gala.

Stars from film, music, television, sports, and fashion itself showed up in their favorite designer’s clothing. All in accordance to the night’s punk rock theme.

Therefore, I decided to put together a list of who I believe were the best and worst dressed of the night:

First off, my Top 3 Best Dressed:

1. Anne Hathaway. This star has been getting some negative reviews, but honestly, I LOVE her look. Her blonde hair was edgy and definitely not my favorite look for her, but dress made up for it. Way to go Valentino!

2. Blake Lively. Gucci really worked their magic with this look. The green and black contrast made this Gossip Girl look both edgy and full of class. It was perfect for her body type and she looked gorgeous!

3. Nina Dobrev. This girl really knows how to rock the punk theme. I guess being on The Vampire Diaries can help a bit, along with designer Monique Lhuillier, who custom made the look for Dobrev. Rocking these pants on the red carpet is definitely something to admire.

Now, for the Top 3 Worst Dressed:

1. Katy Perry. Normally, you’d think this star would get the punk theme down. However, I wasn’t too impressed. The dress seemed to do nothing for her body type and the pattern was just a bit too much. However, I did love her nails! But as for the dress, sorry Dolce and Gabbana, not my favorite.

2. Zandra Rhodes. You’d think a designer would be able to put together a punk piece in a little bit of a neater fashion, right? Her look was an all over the place mess. Sorry, but better luck next time!

3. Elle Fanning. I hate to put her on this list, because she’s a wonderful up and coming actress, but her look also did nothing for her. She looked like she was wearing a tie-dyed sheet. I also wasn’t a big fan of her eye make-up. Maybe next time with this sister Rodarte!

And…that’s my review!

“Iron Man 3″ – A Full Review of the Box Office Hit!

This past weekend Iron Man 3 hit the United States box office and made history. It had the second biggest debut ever with $175.3 million. Following The Avengers which kicked off last summer with $207.4 million.

Since I saw the film Friday night, I decided I would give you guys my take on the next chapter of the beloved superheroes story. Here it goes:

To put it simply: I loved it! I can honestly say this was my favorite film of the three. I loved the large focus on Tony Stark’s love with Pepper, the idea of his non- Iron man past creating a villain in his present life, and the addition of the little boy who looks up to Iron Man.

I think my favorite parts of the entire film included Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) getting suited up and in the action. It was nice to see a female character who tried as much as possible to not just sit there and let her superheroes boyfriend save her.

However, there were some aspects of the film I didn’t care for. For one, the Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) jokes were a little bit over the top. They occurred so often and sometimes so misplaced that I felt myself disliking him instead of loving him even more like I usually do.

Going forward with Iron Man, I say don’t make a fourth one. Robert Downey Jr. should go spread his acting wings further. I think if anything they should consider a Rescue movie. Which is the comic book name of Pepper when she gets suited up. I’d love to see more of Gwyneth Paltrow kicking ass and being a heroine. We really need more females in on this!

As for now though, I might go see Iron Man 3 a few dozen more times. It was action packed and kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time.

Claps for the everyone that helped bring this film to life, especially the special effects team.

Now, if you haven’t already, go see Iron Man 3! I recommend it.

Must See Trailers and People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman!

Even though the movies for 2013 started off slow…starting next week with Iron Man 3, the summer movies will be in full swing. And we can’t wait!

And speaking of Iron Man 3…their very own Gwyneth Paltrow was named People Magazine’s 2013 Most Beautiful Woman! Personally, I couldn’t agree more.

In response to such a huge honor Paltrow told the magazine: “I honestly thought someone was playing a joke on me”. But no, it was most definitely not a joke at all. We can’t wait to see her alongside the sexy Robert Downey Jr. next week!

But after you’re done checking out summer movie #1…why not count down the days until you can see the sexy Emma Watson in her latest movie The Bling Ring.

 

The film is set to premiere June 14th.

It follows teenagers fascinated by the glamour of Hollywood and take partying with the celebs to a whole new level. Watson becomes a good girl gone bad who tracks down celebrities and steals their personal belongings. And, in case you didn’t know, it’s all based on a true story!

But if all that crazy drama still isn’t enough for you, or superheroes are just more your thing, get pumped for November. Now.

The trailer for Thor: The Dark World was released early and looks more action packed then we could’ve ever imagined!  Jane Foster is back in Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) life for the film and Loki is up to his old tricks (Tom Hiddleston).

 

We can not wait to get this big time movies in theaters already! Here’s to a future of great film to come 2013.

My Own Little Piece of Hollywood!

First off, I apologize since it’s been a while since I’ve updated you guys on all the crazy celebrity gossip these days – don’t even get me started on Amanda Bynes – but I’ve been taking part in Campus Movie Fest! Our film “Reverse Serendipity” was nominated for Best Drama and our actor, Matt Sadofsky, won Best Actor! We still have a chance to go to Hollywood if we get the most views for our 5 minute short so CHECK IT OUT!!! And if you like it, share it with family and friends!

Spring Breakers – A Full Review of the Disney Stars Gone Wild Flick!

  

Okay, so while Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine aren’t actresses who gained fame on the Disney Channel, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens are. Which is one of the reasons why the latest Harmony Korine film is getting so much attention and ridicule. It’s a good girl gone bad image for the two (especially Vanessa Hudgens).

But what most people might not know…is that Harmony Korine is used to the whole controversial outlook on his films kind of thing. In fact, he often aims to show his personal views of our world’s youth through film-making. He already did so once before in the film Kids he wrote in 1995. Which is why when you look at the famed writer/director’s film Spring Breakers in that way, suddenly it all makes sense. However, most people aren’t aware of this artsy filmmakers style.

Spring Breakers was full of boobs, sex, drugs, guns, robbery, jail, more boobs, and more drugs. It’s a film aimed to show how teenagers and college students of today act and how society expects them to act. It also shows how the “no consequence” stigma really plays out in teenager’s minds which results in why they make stupid, sometimes life-threatening, decisions. Most clearly explained when Hudgens says “Pretend like you’re in a video game or something. Pretend you’re in a movie…” The film is also nicely topped off with tons of Britney Spears tunes that most of the teens today grew up with.

However, was starring people like Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez a good idea? My opinion: No. When I went to the theater it was packed with kids who did not look old enough to be seeing a rated-R movie, and parents with their younger kids who begged them to go. I did see one mom leave with her daughter half-way through the film, but most teens probably didn’t realize what they were getting themselves into.

My main concern? That young kids will look at this film and think it’s cool to act the way Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson’s characters acted. But, hopefully Selena Gomez’s good girl with morals character and James Franco’s overly creepy character will convince them otherwise.

All-in-all…Spring Breakers was a scary yet much needed reality check at what society has become. It was artful and beautifully made, but also disturbing and pushing the limits of what can be shown in film and what can’t.

My advice would be…go see the movie! But if you’re not old enough to see a rated-R film… Don’t see it.

Hollywood’s Biggest Night – A Full Review of the Oscars!

Last Sunday marked the 85th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, and it was full of surprises, interesting musical numbers, and hot red carpet looks. It was definitely a night to remember!

That’s why I decided to compile a list of the Top 5 things to remember from Oscar night! Here’s all of the night’s best and the night’s worst:

1. Seth MacFarlane: This years host had some very mixed reviews. He opened up the night with a very slow twenty minute or so skit that contained a “We Saw Your Boobs” musical number for all the night’s actresses, Channing Tatum waltzing with Charlize Theron, Joseph Gordon-Levitt dancing with Daniel Radcliffe, a Chris Brown and Rihanna joke, plus a sock puppet reenactment of Flight. So, the question is, was he overstepping just a bit? Most fans of Family Guy loved the funny man’s take over of the Oscars, but most others thought he was distasteful and didn’t take the seriousness of the night into full consideration. Personally, my favorite number of his had to be the song for the losers he sang with Kristen Chenoweth at the shows end.

So, what did you think of his hosting? I’m not sure the Academy thought much of it. In fact, Jimmy Kimmel is already in talks for hosting it next year.

2. Jennifer Lawrence: This girl was on fire the entire night! No Hunger Games pun intended. She was clearly one of the Best Dressed of the night with her Dior au couture gown that was fairytale princess worthy. On top of winning best dressed (in my opinion), she also won one of the night’s biggest awards, Best Lead Actress for her role in Silver Lining Playbook. With that win she also got a bunch of people talking. From her trip up the stairs with which Hugh Jackman ran up to help save her, to her flipping the bird playfully at the press room after the show, to an interview where Jack Nicholson jokingly flirted with her. There’s really no way we can ignore this girl!

Side Note: Jennifer Lawrence is now in the news for apparently seen smoking what looks like weed in Hawaii.

3. The Heart Warming Speeches: The winners for Best Speeches of the night have to be Anne Hathaway, who won for Best Supporting Actress in Les Miserables, and Ben Affleck, when accepting the award for Argo as Best Picture. Anne Hathaway was near tears and started off her speech saying “it came true”. It truly was amazing to watch her accept that award. As for Ben Affleck, he accepted the award when it seemed as if the award would surely go to Life of Pi after all of it’s wins. It was one of the few films that won Best Picture without winning (or even nominating)  the Best Director award. He made a heartfelt comment to his wife Jennifer Gardner and teared up at the end. How sweet!?

    

4. The Music: This year was the first year that the Oscars ever had a theme. Since the theme was music in cinema, it was full of multiple performances and may have made the audience question whether or not they were watching the Tony’s! Amazing performances by the cast of Les Miserables, Chicago, and Dreamgirls. There were also tributes to James Bond with performances of the song “Goldfinger” and “Skyfall”. Plus, Barbra Streisand took the stage at the In Memoriam segment of the night. However, the best music had to be the speech cut off music. What better way to scare an Oscar winner off the stage then playing the Jaws theme song?

5. Things That Made Us Go “What?!”: That’s right. The night was full of shockers. From Kristen Stewart making an appearance on crutches and with a bruise on her arm with little explanation besides “stepping on broken glass” to Michelle Obama announcing the Best Picture winner, Argo. Also, the Producer of the Oscar winning animation short, Paperman, was supposedly kicked out for 10 minutes after throwing around paper airplanes after the win! There were definitely things that were extremely unexpected. On top of all that drama, Britney Spears attended the Vanity Fair Oscar’s Party as a brunette and The Onion tweeted that Quvenzhane Wallis, the youngest Oscar nominee ever in the Best Lead Actress category, was the C-word. They later publicly apologized.

The Tweet We’ve Been Waiting For!

The one and only Fergie took to twitter earlier today and tweeted that her and husband Josh Duhamel of 4 years are expecting their first child.

Or in Fergie’s words:

“Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!! #mylovelybabybump”

Of which Josh also posted to his Facebook. Definitely a nice spin on the popular Black Eyed Peas song “My humps”! LOL

It has been known for a while that the two were looking to start a family soon. And now with Josh Duhamel in the public eye promoting his new movie Safe Haven, what better time?!

Okay, I’ll admit, I think the timing is just a tad ironic. But still I couldn’t be happier for the two.
